Essential Travel Info Morocco

What to think about when planning a photo trip to Morocco.
Morocco is a Muslim country and travellers are asked to respect the culture and traditional ways by dressing modestly and to refrain from drinking alcohol when asked, especially in the mountain villages.

British Nationals don't need a visa. Nationals from other Countries should check their own requirements. Allow time for any vaccinations you might need. Please check with your doctor and bring a medical kit that meets your personal medical needs together with a basic first aid, sterile medical kit, remedies for travellers diarrhoea and medicated hand gel. There is no electricity on some holidays - please check carefully if you require, for example, a fridge to keep any medication.  We are on hand to share our own experience but for medical advice please refer to your Nurse or Doctor. It is a good idea to carry a Doctors prescription with your for prescribed medication.

International Flights or Trains
Organising, booking and paying for flights or trains are the responsibility of the traveller.  We are able to discuss options and assist with suggestions, but do not make bookings on your behalf.

Flights to Marrakech, Morocco   -  direct flights with Royal Air Maroc, easyjet and Ryanair  as well as other Charter Airlines.  Note that most airlines charge for baggage, meals etc, etc.

Trains to Marrakech, Morocco from the UK are via Paris on Eurostar.

What to budget for
Passport, visa, vaccination, medical and all insurance costs.  Travel to and from holiday start location, flights and all associated costs (taxes,  excess baggage, airport  costs, meals).  All drinks, laundry, porterage, personal tipping (a way of life  and expected!) and other personal items during your holiday.  Any optional tours or activities, tipping of the local driver and/or local guide. Most meals are included; check each holiday description for full details.

Insurance - Travel, Supplier and Flight Failure                                                                                           It is a condition of booking that comprehensive travel insurance is obtained that covers 'adventure travel' and is valid  for travel to your choice of holiday destination, from the date your holiday booking is made.  Please note that travel insurance provided with, for example, a credit card, may not provide adequate cover.  A copy of your travel insurance and emergency contact details  will be required by us prior to your holiday departure date.  We recommend that you purchase supplier and flight failure insurance so that all elements of your holiday are insured.

Holiday Money
Credit Cards are not widely accepted in the places we go to. Please plan to take sterling. (or euros, but don't change euros especially). A guide on what to budget for/local costs will be provided. Currency can be changed at the airport on arrival at Marrakech. Keep all currency exchange receipts so that before your return flight, any remaining currency can be converted back to sterling.

Fitness Level
Please don't over estimate your fitness level as this could spoil yours, and other participants holidays. On all our Morocco photography holidays there is a fair amount of walking and bear in mind that you will also be carrying your own daysac/camera bag with your camera equipment, water bottle and waterproof/personal items. More information about fitness levels and walking/trekking are detailed on each page. Note that the Mountain Village Experience includes lots of walking every day on steep, uneven terrain.
