Focus on - Responsible Photography experiences
Responsible Photography are a tiny specialist photography enterprise, founded by Gail Ward with partners in Morocco and Ethiopia. With very tiny groups, no more than 3-6/7 people, the emphasis is on providing different photographic opportunities and cultural experiences together with time to enjoy the places we visit. Some responisble photography holidays involve travelling long distances and there can be quite a few
early starts for those keen to catch the morning light. Participants
must be
quite fit and adventurous for most Responsible Photography Holidays. Gail can help you choose which bespoke experience that best suits your personal fitness and
interests, so do get in touch and talk to Gail to find out more. Gail can also organise itineraries for small private groups. During a Responsible Photography Holiday you will get r guidance and help structured around individual requirements. If
you are looking for a good basic introduction to photography with instruction, join Gail on a 'Fun with your camera Beginners Photography' holiday in either Morocco or Great Britian. These photography holidays include focused daily workshops,
photography challenges and lots of help and support. You'll also find weekends and photo study days in the UK. To make sure a photography experience is right for you, Gail talks through everything when an enquiry or reservation is made. Responsible Photography
™
weekends and short breaks in Great Britain are less strenuous, offering a different photography experience in a relaxed and informal environment.

Focus on - we share because we care
What does 'we share because we care' mean? At Responsible Photography
™ we care not only about your holiday and your photography, but about the impact we all have on the places we visit and the people we meet.
- Responsible Photography want you to know that local people and business will benefit
from the money you spend on your holiday rather than it trickle down
through a transnational tourism corporation. Responsible
Photography Holidays collaborates with local partners and suppliers, uses mostly
local style and locally owned accommodation, and buys local produce. Everyone is paid 'in country' and no money is paid to accounts held outside the 'country'.
- Responsible Photography promote the purchase of local produce, locally made goods and traditional crafts - you can do this not just on holiday but also when you are back home too.
- Responsible Photography share knowledge and skills, and guided by our local partners, offer
practical help or donate much needed school equipment (pencils, crayons,
exercise books, balls and bats), basic medical provisions or warm
clothing (for families in the communities, mountain guides and
porters in Ethiopia).
- Responsible Photography are working with a local partner in Ethiopia who is building a business to enable him realise his dream of providing water, electricity and a school in the region he grew up in.
- Responsible Photography encourage our partners, local guides and local helpers to participate in all
our photography holidays by lending them cameras to use and have
fun with. Longer term, the aim is to provide them with their own
cameras. We are collecting cameras through our photo projects if you would like to help.
Responsible Photography Holidays are made all the more special by our enthusiastic guides and friends who
share personal insights into their homeland. They also enjoy finding out
about our lives and homelands too. Staying in local or village run accommodation contributes directly to small communities,
helping them to develop sustainable livelihoods

Focus on - non photographers
Partners/friends/family who are not photographers are very welcome to join responsible photography but do remember that the focus is on providing a travel
experience with other people who share the same interest - photography! During the day you will enjoy lots of different experiences, but often the conversation in the evening can centre around all things photographic. Alternatively you can book all the places on a holiday and travel with your own small private group - sharing your holiday with family or friends. Responsible Photography partners also run Community Tourism Holidays which offer similar opportunities and experiences in Morocco and Ethiopia, without any photography.
