Responsible Photography Holidays e-newsletter March 2010
We are back with our first e-newsletter of 2010 and there is lots happening!
The Responsible Photography Holidays website has had a quick facelift and features photos from our local partners and guides who are fast becoming good photographers. The Mountain Village Photo Project has won an award, the Digital Economy Bill is on every photographers agenda and we're looking forward to fun with our cameras in Morocco, Rwanda plus new destinations too! We're going to China and have a special photo holiday to Ethiopia.
Enjoy your photography and maybe see you on one of our photo holidays during the coming year!
Best wishes,
Gail and RPH partners in Morocco, Ethiopia, China and Rwanda

The Mountain Village Photo Project has won the kids & young people category of the Green Web Awards 2009. All nominations were short-listed by a panel of green experts, including Caroline Lucas, leader of the Green Party and Adam Vaughan, Deputy Editor Environment Guardian. The general public were then asked to vote for the winners - so THANK-YOU to everyone who voted for us! Founder Nigel Berman commented 'the general public are becoming increasingly aware of the green credentials of brands and it is interesting that many of the votes are for independent companies whose green credentials are embedded in their company ethos'. The project needs film and help with D&P. Later in the year we are planning new projects using basic digital compacts.
The Digital Economy Bill introduces serious and radical changes to photographers copyright - both professional AND amateur. Act urgently and write to your MP because this Bill will allow any user to circumvent copyright. It has far reaching implications. A second day of report is due 3rd March. The unelected Lord Mandelson is behind this!
In addition, there is a Government online consultation for the use of personal information online. This could impact on photographers photographing in public places - if you document everyday life or enjoy street photography this could be curtailed if people misinterpret the scope of this consultation.
New photo holidays! 2010 sees the introduction of new photo holidays which we're really excited about! Alongside our favourite photo holidays to Morocco, there is a special photo holiday itinerary to Ethiopia for the more adventurous photographer, a nature photography holiday to Rwanda to photograph the Silverback Mountain Gorillas and an opportunity to explore and photograph in rural China. Whilst Spring and Autumn are ideal months to travel further afield, you can also join us in the summer for a photo and walking holiday to the High Atlas Mountains - and help with our photo project!
Newsflash - 2 places on Valleys, Kasbahs and Desert Photo Trail 20th-27th March (due to sad circumstances).
