| Rwanda Photography Holiday Rwanda Experience - a special interest and photographic tour with optional gorilla trekking
Rwanda
is continuing to push ahead with economic
development and infrastructures. Whilst most
people immediately think of the genocide, for the 'Rwandese' people,
this is very much a part of Rwandan
history that will never be forgotten, but today they concentrate on the
future.
Gail's Travel Industry experience includes working with new and
developing destinations; she says that investment in tourism is mainly
concentrated on 'high end' accommodation and services with an emphasis
on "quality" of visitor rather than quantity.
Sustainable
activities that aim to alleviate poverty are being successfully
introduced and managed.'
It is these sustainable local activities and community projects that
interest Gail. She
observed that whilst people
really appreciate guidance and support, they are very keen to show that
they are working hard 'to make things happen' for themselves. Rwanda
is also home to the endangered mountain gorilla and on all holidays
there is the option to visit the gorillas - the income gained through
gorilla tourism is used to help protect the forests and ensure the
survival of the gorillas. Responsible Photography's
'Rwanda Experience' holiday, includes nature, forests and community
projects plus an optional gorilla trek, all supporting poverty
alleviating or conservation projects whilst also offering a variety of
photographic
opportunities. Rwanda is a stunningly beautiful country where you'll
be given a very warm welcome and at the end of the visit, hopefully,
you'll feel that your money has been well spent, with most going to the people who genuinely benefit from it. What to think about when planning a holiday to RwandaBritish nationals
don't need a visa for a short holiday, but allow time for the
vaccinations that are required. Note that malaria tablets are a necessity for Rwanda - please buy from a reputable source, preferably your Doctor.
Please check vaccination and health requirements for Rwanda with your Doctor or Nurse well in advance of travelling. You will find lots of info on
the Fit for Travel Scotland NHS website and the FCO website. We
have a
comprehensive list of clothes and items we recommend that you take to RWanda and are on hand to
answer any questions/share our own experience. Please note that
you are not allowed to take plastic bags into Rwanda, and any that you
are using will be taken from you on arrival at Kigali Airport. We
suggest cloth bags, drysacs or waterproof bags. You'll need to be fit
and take good walking boots with ankle support for the gorilla trekking.Flights
- Holidays are based on the Brussels flight schedule which operates
from East Midlands, Edinburgh, Leeds Bradford, Manchester and London
Heathrow. We can quote additional nights accommodation to fit with
different flight schedules - please request. Responsible Photography has new projects in our Rwanda Experience for 2012
