Photography-Holidays
A successful Responsible Photography Holiday is about experiencing the places we visit, respecting the people we meet and having fun with your camera. Travel with a companion, travel solo or travel with your own private group. Make the most of your holiday time with a chance to experience fascinating places, encounter colourful local life and enjoy your photography. We maintain our founding principles of contributing to community livelihoods, encouraging positive interaction with the people we meet and respecting the environment. We are very privileged to visit some of the places we go to and it is important that the trust placed in us is not compromised. Sometimes it is not appropriate to take photographs, particularly of women and children, so please respect any request to 'hold back' with the camera - enjoy the experience and cherish the memory instead.
Perhaps you are a less experienced photographer who wants to gain confidence and learn more or do you just want to indulge your passion for adventure travel and photography? Whichever photo_holiday you choose, there will be lots of photographic opportunities with help, guidance, support, ideas and tips depending on your individual interests or requirements.
Consider using a
photography
_holiday to produce a personal photo narrative or photography book. An initial discussion
will help determine what you would like to concentrate on. Perhaps it will be pattern and texture, or
colour and abstract, a travel documentary or a combination of words and pictures. Join our
Nature and Wildlife Photo Holiday and you will be able to include your very own photographs of mountain gorillas. Review and
discussion sessions will help you edit ideas and stay on
track with your project. Everyone will be encouraged to
participate in open discussion to share their photographic knowledge, thoughts, ideas and experience.
- Have fun and learn more about photography
Do you want to get to know your camera, learn a bit more about photography and have fun at the same time? Why not join a Responsible Photography Holiday and gain that extra confidence so that you can really enjoy your photography. We have fun on our beginners photography holiday week in Morocco which includes structured photo workshops to help you with your photography.
- the basics of photography and your camera
- lighting, composition, positioning
- how to process and prepare your photographs
- different ways to present your photographs
- take the next step - alternative viewpoints and angles
- introduction to copyright
- taking photographs for a personal project or photography book
During all our photo holidays there will be 'discussion' sessions, evening reviews, suggested photography techniques to practice and individual support. We are also aware that many people like to come on a photo holiday not wanting or needing any help, so don't worry - we respect this and leave you in peace to enjoy your photography! The number of photography holiday participants won't be exceeded unless you would like a photography holiday or photo workshop for your own private group.
Would you like to share your interest in photography and your creative skills by assisting with the
Mountain Village Photo Project or the planned photo project in Rwanda? Are you practical, patient and confident enough to help children, and adults, who are eager to learn about cameras and taking pictures? You don't need to be a highly skilled photographer, your personal skills and genuine interest in helping are much more important. References/CRB check required.
You need to have your own camera
equipment
and for
digital photographers
a laptop could be useful. Take a 'back up'
camera with you just
in
case something goes wrong! Remember to bring a travel plug or adapter.
Digital photographers will need to bring everything they need -
necessary
connections, card readers, battery chargers and/or more memory cards
than you think you'll need! Film photographers will need their
film/labels - a small soft cooler bag is useful for keeping film in.
Plus - don't forget your camera manual....!
Cloth bags are a good idea to protect your camera and equipment from
dirt and dust (especially in the desert!) - and an old toothbrush can
be useful for dislodging sand from tripods!
