Day 1 Arrive in Beijing, meet our guide and transfer to traditional local guesthouse.
Day 2/3 An introduction to China's Capital City Beijing. We visit Tian'anmen Square and the Forbidden City, both important landmarks. Our local guide will give provide guidelines on photography here. We experience a Hutong tour by rickshaw and have lunch with a local family. We'll go to the Temple of Heaven and hike part of the Great Wall, choosing a part of the wall that is rarely visited by the main tourist groups which will be much more interesting for photography.
Day 4 -11 Leaving Beijing behind, we take an internal flight to Guilin, from where we head off with our cameras into the rural countryside. Wooden buildings, stone pathways and thousands of curving rice paddies make this area world famous. The terraced fields are built along slopes winding from the riverside up to the mountain tops. The highest point is 880m. For a couple of nights, we take just what we need and trek, staying in small guesthouses., getting up very early to photograph the sunrise and dawn light. Another day, a 20kms hike takes us through small villages, rice fields, orchards and the unique karst mountains. (There's an alternative anyone who doesn't want to hike so far!) We'll head off to a Mountain Retreat for 3 nights and enjoy cycling - the best way to see the stunning scenery that surrounds the mountain retreat and enables us to get an intimate look at rural Chinese life.
Day 12 Transfer to airport for return flights to Beijing and onward flights home.
